CIDCO Fast-Tracks Navi Mumbai International Airport Connectivity Projects
The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) is accelerating several key infrastructure projects to ensure seamless connectivity to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), including metro extensions and new arterial roads.

With the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) progressing towards its operational phase, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has put its connectivity infrastructure projects on a fast track. CIDCO officials confirmed that multiple initiatives are being expedited to ensure smooth and efficient access to the airport from various parts of Mumbai and the surrounding regions. Key among these is the extension of the Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 from Belapur to NMIA, which will provide direct rail access. Additionally, work on the crucial Ulwe Coastal Road, connecting the MTHL (Mumbai Trans Harbour Sea Link) to the airport, is being closely monitored for timely completion. CIDCO is also focusing on widening existing arterial roads and developing new internal road networks within the airport influence area. These projects aim to not only facilitate passenger movement but also support the cargo and logistics operations expected to boom with the airport's commencement. A dedicated task force has been set up by CIDCO to oversee the progress, address any bottlenecks, and ensure coordination between various agencies involved. The enhanced connectivity is seen as vital for the overall economic development of the Navi Mumbai region and for establishing NMIA as a major international air hub. Regular review meetings are being held to ensure adherence to timelines.
