MHADA Announces Mega Lottery for 5000 Affordable Homes in Mumbai Region
The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has unveiled plans for a massive housing lottery, offering over 5000 homes across various income groups in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). Applications are expected to open next month.

In a significant move to address the housing deficit in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) today announced a comprehensive lottery for over 5000 affordable homes. The scheme aims to cater to individuals from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Lower Income Groups (LIG), Middle Income Groups (MIG), and Higher Income Groups (HIG). Officials stated that the homes are spread across various locations including Goregaon, Powai, Vikhroli, and also extend to rapidly developing nodes like Panvel, Virar, and Thane. The application process will be entirely online, accessible through the official MHADA portal. Prospective buyers will need to register, submit necessary documentation including Aadhaar card, PAN card, income certificate, and domicile certificate. The lottery draw is anticipated to be held within two months of the application deadline, ensuring transparency through a computerized system. This initiative is part of MHADA's ongoing commitment to provide quality, affordable housing and curb the proliferation of unauthorized constructions. Further details regarding eligibility criteria, specific project locations, unit sizes, and pricing will be available on the MHADA website (www.mhada.gov.in) once the official notification is released, likely in the first week of next month. This move is expected to bring relief to thousands of homebuyers struggling with soaring property prices in the region.
