Centre Allocates ₹375.71 Crore for Roads & Bridges in Chhattisgarh’s Tribal Regions
The Government of India has approved a major infrastructure package worth ₹375.71 crore (₹3.75 billion) under Phase-II of the Prime Minister’s JANMAN Scheme, aiming to improve connectivity in Chhattisgarh’s remote and tribal regions. This funding will support the construction of 569.56 km of new roads and 108 bridges across 26 districts, primarily benefiting Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
According to officials, the new roads and bridges will link previously isolated villages to main transport corridors, enabling easier access to education, healthcare, markets, and government services. The project is expected to significantly boost economic opportunities and social inclusion in these underserved areas.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai welcomed the move, stating that improved connectivity will transform the lives of tribal residents and strengthen the delivery of welfare schemes. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized that the PM JANMAN scheme’s second phase will focus on quality execution and timely completion, ensuring sustainable benefits for generations to come.
By prioritizing tribal infrastructure development, the government aims to bridge the urban-rural divide, promote inclusive growth, and unlock the economic potential of Chhattisgarh’s resource-rich but geographically challenging landscapes.
