IndiGo Launches Bengaluru MRO Facility, Promising Over 1,000 New Job Opportunities

IndiGo, India’s largest airline by market share, has commenced construction of its expansive Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru. This move is a major step toward strengthening the airline’s technical and operational capabilities in South India.

Spanning over 13,000 square meters, the MRO hub is expected to streamline aircraft servicing, reduce turnaround time, and enhance fleet efficiency. More significantly, the facility is projected to create over 1,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, ranging from skilled technicians and engineers to support staff, marking a substantial boost to the regional job market.

The decision to base the MRO in Bengaluru is part of IndiGo’s long-term vision to develop world-class aviation infrastructure within India, reduce reliance on overseas MRO services, and contribute to the ‘Make in India’ initiative. Scheduled for completion in the coming years, the facility will play a pivotal role in supporting IndiGo’s growing fleet and solidifying its leadership in the Indian skies.
