India Approves ₹11,100 Crore Railway Upgrade Across 6 States to Boost Connectivity and Efficiency

In a major step toward strengthening India’s transportation backbone, the Union Cabinet has greenlit a massive ₹11,100 crore (Rs 111 billion) investment for the modernization and expansion of railway infrastructure across six key states. This comprehensive upgrade aims to enhance both passenger and freight operations, improve rail network efficiency, and support India’s growing economic and logistical demands.

Key Highlights of the Railway Upgrade Project:

• States Benefiting: The upgrade will span across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh.

• Strategic Focus: Emphasis on doubling and tripling railway lines, enhancing freight corridors, and decongesting high-traffic routes.

• Economic Boost: The infrastructure push will support industrial belts, ports, and logistics hubs, resulting in faster goods movement and increased connectivity.

• Job Creation: The project is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs during and after construction phases.
